Turkey holds a very special place in my life. The culture and people of this country have provided me with invaluable experiences and have helped shape me into the person I am today by truly making me feel loved. This country means a lot to me, and I harbor genuine affection towards it.
Contemplating on how to reciprocate this love in a meaningful way, I have decided to establish the Shane Larkin Foundation. I see this foundation as an opportunity to bring together like-minded individuals who share my vision, and I believe together we can make positive impacts across various fields throughout Turkey. I am confident that this foundation will continue to assist people even after my retirement from basketball.
The primary aim of this foundation is to provide a better future for children and youth. Our efforts will focus on providing them with creative spaces, the tools they need to achieve more, and particularly creating environments where children and youth struggling with mental challenges feel less isolated.
Throughout my childhood battling Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), I felt different from others and thus felt the need to conceal my condition for a long time. This personal journey has made me realize how crucial it is to provide a safe haven for children and youth struggling with similar health issues and feeling isolated. I aim to create an environment where they never feel alone or marginalized but instead are encouraged to seek help.
With the Shane Larkin Foundation, we pledge full transparency in every step we take. We aim to earn a respected place in society and always strive to focus on the best outcomes in our endeavors. We aspire to leave a long-lasting and impactful legacy on society.
I cannot predict how successful we will be, but we are committed to doing our best to make a positive impact on as many people as possible. We aim to create a sustainable and widely respected foundation that can continue to support and help people.
